Is it safe?

While we know Chinese medicine to be generally accepted as safe and less invasive than many other forms of health treatment, there are still some side-effects and risks:

Common side effects include:
BruisingAcupuncture, Cupping or Tui Na
Brief painful sensationAcupuncture or eStim
Minor SwellingAcupuncture or Cupping
Sore muscles or achesTui Na or eStim
DizzinessAcupuncture, Tui Na or Cupping
Possible aggravation of symptoms existing prior to treatmentTui Na or eStim
None of these effects are cause for concern or follow-up, however please reach out if you have any questions
Less common side effects
FaintingAcupuncture
Burns/ScarringMoxibustion, Cupping or Heat Lamp
Numbness or tingling near the needling sites that may last a few daysAcupuncture
While these effects are less common, please let your practitioner know so that they can provide the appropriate follow-up care

The following risks are very rare and all of our practitioners have completed extensive training in proper technique and safety to prevent their occurrence. Please let us know if you have a pacemaker, are currently pregnant or taking blood thinners or corticosteroids so that we can adjust your treatment accordingly

Please notify us and/or seek medical care if you experience any of the following symptoms: severe shortness of breath; worsening, severe abdominal pain/tenderness near a needle insertion site; blood in your urine; persistent uterine bleeding (if pregnant); extreme heat, redness spreading outward from a needle insertion site, extreme swelling, severe pain, or a fever.
